This is the 33nd year for our Festival. We have put together events for the entire family starting in March with the Queen and Teen Queen Pageants at Fairmont State University, the Little and Junior Miss Pageants at the Marion County Senior Center, followed in April by the Senior Queen Pageant which will be held at the Middletown Mall in White Hall. All of this leads up to the opening of the Festival on the 24th of May with our Grand Feature Parade through the streets of Fairmont. To finish off our opening night the Davisson Brothers Band will perform live at Palatine Park.
Friday, May 25th, is the night for the entire family. Starting early that evening Josh Knotts and his assistant Lea will perform their jaw dropping Illusions and Escapes, and they will continue to perform throughout the night. At 6 pm a hit from last year returns in the Consol Energy Professional Pepperoni Roll Bake-off where local bakeries will compete for bragging rights on who has the best Pepperoni Roll. Headlining the stage will be The Reflex Band during the first ever Blast from the Past 80's night.
It all culminates Saturday with the Amateur Pepperoni Roll Bake-Off, so come hungry because the public chooses the winner here. Anyone can purchase tickets; those tickets can be exchanged for samples of any of the contestant's rolls. The contestant with the most votes will win a $300 grand prize. If that’s not enough, you could enter the Pepperoni Roll Eating Competition that will be held that evening at 4 pm. So now that you have sampled the local fare and spent a weekend riding carnival rides, sit back and enjoy The George Shingleton Band, followed by fireworks sponsored by Nuzum Trucking and Pepsi.
We are in hopes that you can join us for a weekend of fun and kick off your summer here in Fairmont. |
